2020 - COVID-19 year

In March 2020, Toronto went into lockdown, due to the rapidly spready and deadly corona virus, first identified in China at the end of 2019.  With the situation changing frequently, and a lot of uncertainty around how many people could safely gather at one time, we made the decision not to launch our boat.

Unfortunately, we couldn't really do much else either, as travel restrictions were in place at home and around the world.

Life opened up briefly in the late summer and fall, and we had one outing with Keith and Madeleine aboard Elan.  Their son, Jeremy and his partner Jamie purchased a C& C Landfall 38 to live aboard, and when disaster struck, Ed helped deliver the boat to Wigger's in Bowmanville, which is where we bought our boat.  The entrance to the channel is quite shallow late in the year, which made for some interesting video.

Sailing in Hawaii

We were lucky to spend four weeks on the Big Island of Hawaii in Feb 2020.  Corona virus was just starting to take hold, but not many cases world wide.  Ela joined us for part of our trip, and we enjoyed both the windward and leeward sides of the island.  We took a couple of whale watching excursions, and chartered a sailboat with a local captain near Kailua-Kona.

We even got to enjoy both the Hilo Yacht Club (which has no yachting facilities) and the Keauhou Kona Yacht Club (which has no yachts, or clubhouse).
